On January 16, 2020, nearly 25 SAU students attended the L.E.A.D. (Leaders Emerge After Direction) by Design Seminar. The seminar hosted by Pensole Academy was part of the 2020 Workshop Series offered by the SAU Department of Career Exploration, Mentoring and Professional Development. Ms. Anna Smith, Director of Education and Programs with Pensole engaged the students in a discussion on the Product Creation Industry and the process for applying for the highly competitive online and in-person learning experience.

Ms. Smith shared during the session, “Because less than 5% of persons working in the industry look like those who purchase the product, a grant was acquired to fund HBCU students to attend the program.” Pensole has connected over 500 college students with companies such as Puma, Adidas, Timberland, and Under Armour. We are excited that our students have an opportunity to present their footwear or apparel designs for consideration in the upcoming 2020 L.E.A.D. program.
