The mission of Saint Augustine’s University Health Services is to provide affordable, accessible, and quality primary health care to mainly our students, but it is available to faculty and staff if needed. The student whose acute care requiring needs that exceed the scope of services available on site, we maintain a listing of facilities including Urgent Care Centers and primary care providers who accept Saint Augustine’s University Health Insurance or their private health insurance and of course our nearest emergency rooms. Upon receiving all medical information and Health Documents required for the admission process to the University, Joseph G. Gordon follows the notice of Privacy Practices under the HIPPA guidelines.
All medical records remain Confidential once received in our office including all office visits to Health Center.
Joseph G. Gordon Student Health Services supports the divisional and institutional mission. Our approach is holistic in which we consider the maintenance and improvement of the health of the entire student population in which we enable our students to soar to academic excellence.
Health Services are provided at the Joseph G. Gordon Student Health Center. Each student must have taken a thorough physical examination before matriculating at the University and submit a certificate of good health with student health documents. A student who has special medical problems is responsible for registering them with the University Physician. The student is subject to an examination by the University physician, and the University will be guided by the physician’s recommendations. Note: Athletes cannot participate in sports if we do not receive the completed Student Health Documents.
The University also employs a Registered Nurse and Medical Assistant. There is no fee for students visiting the Health Center. The health center offers free over the counter medications for most illness that doesn’t require a prescription. Students will only pay for prescription medications if required.
Services provided by the Health Center include minor illnesses and minor emergencies, health consultations, and providing health education on illnesses, diseases and prevention.
The University provides a health and wellness program. Our “state of the art” fitness center, the Taylor Wellness Center, provides wellness services. Health Center services are provided, when needed. CAPS (the University’s Counseling and Psychological Services) work very closely with Joseph G. Gordon Health Center. Saint Augustine’s Chapel supports students’ health with spiritual guidance.

Free & Confidential HIV/STD Testing | 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Joseph G. Gordon Health Center and the Department of Health and Human Services is bringing back on campus testing every 2nd and 4th Tuesday. We have designated 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on those days. You may call the Health Center for questions. All medical information is confidential. Testing will take place in the Joseph G. Gordon Health Center. We will begin testing in September.
