DESCRIPTION:Quilter Linda Lewis will show her work in the Art Gallery of Seby Jones Fine Art Building from October 12 through November 2. The opening for “Diasporic Narratives in Stitch” is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, October 12. For a viewing appointment\, call 919.516.4027 or email vltyler@st-aug.edu.\n\n\n\nLewis says of her quilts\, “I want my quilts to evoke a feeling in someone else. Quilting takes me to another place. It is totally absorbing. If I cook while I’m quilting\, I always burn the food because I get lost in the quilt and forget everything else.” The mother of a son\, Shawn Lewis\, Ph.D.\, and grandson\, Samuel Lewis\, sees her quilts as a legacy for her family and community. Her grandson will be off to college soon. “I asked him\, ‘What am I going to do when you’re gone?’ He said\, ‘You’re going to quilt\, or you’re going to dance! ‘”\n\nLearn more about Linda Lewis here.
